Dumping Junk Again

I've noticed lately that some full fat junk foods have been sneaking in our house. How did this happen? I can't blame the kids, although I have taken them shopping lately. They want junk and I wrestle with saying no. They want the cereal with the cool design or mascot which happens to be the one with the most sugar. I know my mom faced this same dilemma, so this is nothing new.

Claire enjoys healthy food, but for Michael, the more junk he gets, the happier he is. I've been known to sneak some ground carrots in spaghetti sauce and lower the fat in everything I can get my hands on, but I'm wondering if I don't push the issue, Michael will come around and finally appreciate fruits and vegetables. Tonight they wanted canned pasta, which is low fat, but unappealing to me.

I remember my mom making me eat tomatoes when I was a kid. I held those slices of tomatoes in my mouth until they were a soggy mess. She remembers this too. I still don't like fresh tomatoes, but I love tomato sauce, spaghetti sauce and ketchup. Go figure.

The kids are going to their dad's house tomorrow night, so I will be going through the fridge and cupboards again and dumping the junk.

Dust off your dancing shoes, it's almost Friday!
