Lighten Up
In her witty and original approach to weight loss, Janice Taylor, on behalf of Our Lady of Weight Loss, encourages us to lighten up, in more ways than one. Offering support, motivation and forgiveness for our dietary transgressions, Our Lady of Weight Loss give us much-needed hope. All we need is faithin ourselves. (see more below)The Patron Saint of Permanent Fat Removal
Janice Taylors epiphany came in 2001 after a humiliating weigh-in session at a group weight-loss meeting. As Ms. Taylors spirits plummeted, she heard the Voice, later ascribed to Our Lady of Weight Loss, the patron saint of permanent fat removal. The Voice admonished that if she didnt believe she would succeed, she never would. Our Lady's miraculous remedy for Ms. Taylor? Make art not meals. Thus Ms. Taylor felt moved to channel her food cravings into artistic creations rather than platefuls of food. Crocheting cupcakes rather than eating chocolate ones helped her drop 50 poundsand keep them off.Pious Projects and Righteous Recipes
Full of practical advice cloaked in tongue-in-cheek religious language, Ms. Taylor manages to present sensible solutions, as well as some slightly wackier ones, in a refreshing if unorthodox way. But even if you cant see yourself making an altar to Our Lady of Weight Loss out of a mac and cheese box, and then decorating it with the uncooked macaroni, you can find plenty of tips, "faToids," advice and easy low-fat, low-calorie "righteous" recipes to keep you on the straight and narrow path. All is Forgiven
And what if you fall from grace and overindulge? Forgive yourself and move on, because "if you think youll never make it, you never will."For further inspiration and motivation, check out Our Lady of Weight Losss Kick in the Tush Club.
