Chocolate Banana Bread

Wednesday December 3, 2008
Here's a great way to use some overripe bananas and also get a quick chocolate fix. Whole wheat pastry flour keeps the banana bread wholesome yet tender. This chocolate banana bread would make a great holiday gift from your kitchen or a welcome contribution to a holiday gathering.

Our guides to Spanish food have favorite traditional Spanish cookie for the holidays called Mantecados, or crumble cakes. These are so soft they literally melt in your mouth. They may not be low fat (alas), but they are undoubtedly delicious.

For a taste of Poland, try these Kolaczki, which start with a buttery cream cheese dough that's filled with a fruit or a sweet cheese filling. These sinfully delicious sweet treats are shared by Barbara Rolek, About's guide to Eastern European food.
