Banana Bread Pudding

Monday November 17, 2008
I've been making bread pudding again—banana bread pudding this time. After the pumpkin bread pudding debacle (I omitted the pumpkin in my initial recipe write up, as many of you spotted), I made doubly sure I included the mashed bananas when writing this one. This banana bread pudding is a great way to use over-ripe bananas that might otherwise be tossed. Who would have thought that nearly black bananas and stale bread, with the help of a few everyday ingredients, could be transformed into such a sublime dessert?

Virtual Cookie Exchange

Since the holidays are just around the corner, About's food channel is launching its annual virtual cookie exchange. With more than 50 of us writing about food and drink, we have a wide variety of cookie recipes to share. Some are perfect for specific dietary needs, a large number offer a taste from around the world, and the rest are our versions of holiday classics. Even if you’re trying to eat low fat, you might want to bake a batch of unashamedly higher-fat sweet treats to take along to a holiday gathering or to give as a gift.

Let's start our cookie exchange with a special recipe for Melomakarona from our Greek food guide. This traditional Greek holiday cookie is made with cinnamon and cloves, soaked in a honey syrup, and sprinkled with sesame seeds, walnuts, and cinnamon.

I went to a hospital in California,UCSD, and after spending most of the day there, receivig batteries of tests, I found I had an enlarged liver, gall-bladder, and was severly dehydrated.
Just by drinking Powerade, and water, 60 oz. of Powerade and all the water I could handle for one day, I must have lost ten pounds in water weight alone.
I’m homeless right now and most of the food we eat is donated… volunteers cook it for you and you eat with a smile on your face. When I can cook for myself again, and buy my own foods, I will definitely drink acai juice, water, and no more coffee at all… I have to cut back on milk, too, because I don’t digest it as well any more…. It mad a big change in what I wore, how I felt, and how people treated me… I will get that back…. Thank you….
