Black Bean Burgers

Wednesday June 18, 2008
Whether or not you’re a vegetarian, these black bean burgers make a great alternative to regular hamburgers. Perhaps a little too fragile for the grill, these black bean burgers cook well in a nonstick skillet, coated with cooking spray, for three or four minutes per side, or in a hot oven (see recipe). Serve these delicious black bean burgers with salsa, low-fat sour cream, a slice or two of avocado, and some rice. Or serve them in whole grain buns or pita breads with your favorite low-fat condiments.

(1) Rhonda in Pittsburgh says:

DO NOT GRILL!! My husband insisted on grilling these burgers with claims of his master grilling skills. He ruined them and made a mess of the grill. I sent him to back to the store for the ingredients so I can make them in the pan. He’s been gone for 2 hrs and not answering his cell. He is in big trouble. Don’t grill!
