Chocolate Dipped Strawberries

Tuesday February 13, 2007
Juicy red strawberries dipped in dark chocolate make a classic and irresistible Valentine’s Day treat. While chocolate can hardly be considered a low-fat food, scientists believe there are some health benefits associated with eating small amounts of dark chocolate, which is naturally rich in flavonoids (or more specifically, flavanols, a sub-class of these antioxidants). These compounds are thought to lower blood pressure and help protect against heart disease. Pairing chocolate with strawberries seems like a match made in heaven: strawberries are rich in fiber, vitamin C and disease-fighting antioxidants. So why not make some Chocolate Dipped Strawberries for your sweetheart this Valentine’s Day?
