Low Fat Cherry Turnovers

Saturday June 24, 2006
These low-fat cherry turnovers are made with phyllo dough and homemade cherry-pie filling. Phyllo dough is a great low-fat alternative to regular pastry, as it contains no saturated fat, trans fat or cholesterol. I keep these cherry turnovers low fat by using butter-flavored cooking spray between the dough sheets instead of brushing them with melted butter. The result is still a flaky, buttery turnover with a sweet, fruity filling. So here’s the recipe for low fat cherry turnovers.
