The Calcium Connection

Wednesday October 20, 2004
Our mothers were right: milk is good for us, and not just for building strong teeth and bones. Studies show that the calcium found specifically in milk and dairy products, when combined with a low fat, low calorie diet, can actually help us lose weight. The calcium from these sources seems uniquely able to increase fat loss by regulating the body’s fat-burning mechanism.

So enjoy a glass of ice cold milk or grab a yogurt from the refrigerator—just make sure it’s low fat or preferably fat free.

For more on this, start with the National Dairy Council.
